A man has been sentenced to two years in a criminal offence after agreeing to pay over $1 million to settle a sexual relationship with a young woman in the UK.
The woman, who was not named, is said to have tried to buy and sell the male enhancement drug Viagra and later suffered a severe sexual side effect of a headache and loss of sight.
The court heard the man, now aged 19, had pleaded guilty to the charge in November last year.
He had supplied the woman with an herbal supplement called ‘Vidalista’ which he had bought from a local pharmacy and had been taking regularly for a few months.
Judge David Davies, of Liverpool Crown Court, found the woman did not meet the requirements for a ‘good faith’ plea and did not meet the standard for a ‘fraudulent’ plea.
The court heard he had been offered for a consultation on the drug but was refused. The defendant had admitted to taking the herbal supplement after he did not have a prescription but had been taking it for a number of years.
The case was prosecuted by Judge David Davies and it was later revealed to have involved a similar sexual relationship between a man and a woman in 2017.
According to the criminal complaint, the defendant had been selling the sexual enhancement drug and the woman was seeking to treat a chronic condition such as cancer.
According to court documents, the defendant, who was not named, admitted he had purchased the supplement and had consumed it during a medical consultation.
It was also revealed that the woman had not disclosed her sexual health status in the two years before she was charged.
The case was then set to go to trial after a three-month investigation, which revealed the defendant had been under the care of a doctor, and had taken the supplement for over two years.
The court heard the victim, aged 19, was suffering from a headache and vision problems after taking the drug for more than two years.
She had suffered from a mild form of the condition, which is caused by a blood vessel problem, which can damage the optic nerve.
The woman had been suffering from a sudden onset of symptoms, which included headaches and visual disturbance, which made it hard to focus.
The defendant, aged 18, had been taking the drug for a number of months and had not been able to find a pharmacy to get it for her.
The court heard he had been offered the drug in the hopes that it would help him with his symptoms and he would then be prescribed it.
Judge Davies added the woman had a “generalised sexual disability”, which is not uncommon in the UK, and that the defendant “has no legitimate need to continue taking the product, and has made a deliberate choice to use it for a variety of reasons.
“The court is also unable to determine whether or not the defendant, under the circumstances, had a legitimate need to continue taking the drug.
“The defendant has had a legitimate need to continue taking the drug and has acted in good faith and he has not made such a choice.”
